A compliant photo for the Cambodia national ID card must meet the 40×60 mm biometric standard administered by the Ministry of Interior through commune and Sangkat registration offices across the country. Common reasons photos are rejected in Cambodia
- Shadows on the face or background — the most frequent issue with informal portraits; overhead or single-source lighting creates shadows that fail biometric verification
- Incorrect face-to-frame ratio — a face occupying less than 55% or more than 69% of frame height is rejected; both face size and vertical centering must be precise
- Tinted or reflective glasses — prescription glasses are acceptable in principle, but any tint or glare that partially obscures the eyes causes rejection
- Non-religious headwear — hats, caps, fashion headbands, and decorative scarves are not permitted; only genuine daily-wear religious coverings are allowed
