A document photo is a headache of its own

A Cambodia Work permit photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.

      It gets rejected

Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.

      Expensive and slow

A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.

      Confusing requirements

Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.

      Redo it all over

Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.

«PhotoID24 does it all for you: upload an ordinary photo — get a ready file exactly matching the official requirements.»

      In detail

Your Work permit photo: what matters

A Cambodia work permit (employment card) photo must meet the digital standard required by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) for its Foreign Workforce Centralized Management System (FWCMS) at fwcms.mlvt.gov.kh. The outcome you need is simple: a clean, passport-style image that the portal accepts the moment your employer or agent uploads it, with no resubmission and no stalled application.

Cambodia's work permit process is almost entirely digital. The FWCMS portal expects a recent, passport-style photo uploaded as a JPG file with a true white or plain background, a neutral expression, and a clearly visible full face. This trips up many applicants because a phone snapshot taken against an off-white wall, with shadows or a slightly cream tone, is read by the system as a non-plain background. When a printed copy is requested at the labour office, Cambodia follows the local 4x6 cm convention rather than the Western 35x45 mm format, so the same source image should work for both the upload and any printout.

      The exact photo requirements are:

      • Size: 40x60 mm (472x709 px), matching the 4x6 cm Cambodian convention
      • Background: pure white, #FFFFFF, plain and shadow-free
      • Face height: the head fills 55-70% of the frame height
      • Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and looking at the camera
      • Glasses: allowed only if the eyes are fully visible with no glare or tint
      • Headwear: none, except religious head covering that does not hide the face
      • Recency: taken within the last 6 months

Common reasons photos are rejected in Cambodia:

      • Background that is not truly white, such as cream, grey or a textured office wall, which FWCMS flags as non-plain
      • Wrong aspect ratio or low resolution after a phone crop, breaking the 4x6 cm proportion
      • Shadows behind the head or uneven lighting across the face
      • Glasses glare, a slight smile, or hair covering the eyes or eyebrows

You do not need a studio. Upload a normal photo taken in good light, and it is automatically cropped and adjusted to the exact Ministry of Labour standard: correct 40x60 mm dimensions, a pure white background, and proper face positioning. You see a free watermarked preview before you pay anything. Because we back every photo with an acceptance guarantee, if the FWCMS upload is rejected we redo it free or refund you. You pay only for the final file, and only if it fits.

      How we get it right

How we make your Work permit photo meet the official standard — Cambodia, 40 × 60 mm

Every photo is prepared against the official requirements for your document — not a generic template. Here is what that means in practice:

      • 1We crop and size your photo to the exact millimetre and pixel dimensions the authority requires.
      • 2We check the background, head position, gaze and lighting, and flag glasses or head coverings that are not allowed.
      • 3We match the rules to the specific document and country, citing the official source of those requirements.
      • 4If anything does not meet the standard, you get a free re-do or your money back.

      No more doubts

A digital photo is normal, and it gets accepted — Cambodia, 40 × 60 mm

You do not need a trip to a studio. Authorities accept any Work permit photo that meets the official requirements — what matters is the standard, not where the photo was made. We match that standard exactly.

      The standard is what counts

Officials check your photo against the rules — size, background, head position and lighting — not where you took it.

      Part of official processes

Many passport, visa and ID services let you upload a digital photo or submit a print — both are fine when they meet the spec.

      Same result as a studio

We prepare your file to the exact official measurements, so it is accepted just like a professional studio photo.

      And you are covered

If a photo is ever rejected for not meeting the requirements, we redo it for free or refund you.

Common questions about Cambodia Work permit photos

What photo size does the Cambodia work permit require?
The standard is 40x60 mm (472x709 px), which matches Cambodia's local 4x6 cm photo convention used for the printed employment card. The same image works for the FWCMS digital upload.
What background color is required for the FWCMS upload?
A pure white (#FFFFFF), plain, shadow-free background. The MLVT FWCMS system frequently rejects off-white, cream, grey or textured walls because it reads them as non-plain backgrounds.
Can I upload a photo to the Cambodia work permit system myself?
Yes. The FWCMS portal at fwcms.mlvt.gov.kh accepts a self-supplied digital passport-style photo in JPG format, as long as it meets the white background, neutral expression and recency rules.
Are glasses allowed in the photo?
Glasses are allowed only if your eyes are fully visible with no glare and no tinted lenses. To avoid rejection, it is safest to remove them. Your expression must be neutral with the mouth closed.
How recent does the photo need to be?
It must be taken within the last 6 months and reflect your current appearance. An old or outdated photo is a common reason FWCMS submissions are returned.
What if my photo is rejected after I pay?
You only pay for the final file, and only after you see a free watermarked preview. If the photo is rejected, we redo it free or refund you under our acceptance guarantee.
