A better photo is needed
- Good even lighting, no shadows

- Plain light background
- Camera at eye level, not too close
A document photo is a headache of its own
A Qatar Work permit photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.
It gets rejected
Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.
Expensive and slow
A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.
Confusing requirements
Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.
Redo it all over
Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.

Your Work permit photo: what matters
A compliant passport-type photograph is required when submitting a Qatar work authorisation application through the Ministry of Interior or the General Directorate of Passports and Expatriates Affairs. Submitting a photo that meets the exact official standard from the outset prevents processing delays that can push back your employment start date by weeks.
Unlike many countries, Qatar does not issue a standalone work permit card. Employment authorisation is embedded in the work/residence visa and confirmed through the Qatar ID (QID). When you apply — via the Metrash2 portal or at a service centre — you attach a standard passport photograph to the application paperwork. Separately, live biometric data (fingerprints and a digital facial scan) are captured in person at a QID enrolment appointment. Your photograph therefore serves the initial application stage; the QID card itself is produced from the biometrics collected on the day of enrolment. Both stages require a photo built to the same official standard, so there is no ambiguity about which specification to follow.
Official photo requirements
- Size: 35 × 45 mm (413 × 531 px at 300 dpi)
- Background: plain white (#FFFFFF) — no patterns, shadows, or gradients
- Face coverage: 70–80% of the total frame height
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes fully open and directed straight at the camera
- Glasses: not permitted under any circumstances
- Headwear: only religious headwear (hijab, kufiya, etc.) is acceptable; it must not shadow or obscure any part of the face
- Recency: taken within the last 6 months
Common reasons photos are rejected in Qatar
- Off-white or cream background — home photography against beige or warm-toned walls is one of the most frequent causes of rejection; the background must be pure white (#FFFFFF) with no gradients
- Glasses worn — prescription glasses are not permitted, even with clear, untinted lenses
- Facial or background shadows — uneven home lighting produces shadows across the face or onto the background, failing the uniform-background requirement checked at service centres
- Photo older than 6 months — staff at Ministry of Interior service centres routinely verify the photograph date and will reject an outdated image on the spot
Upload your own photo and it is automatically prepared to the exact official standard — correctly cropped, resized to 35 × 45 mm, and placed on a clean white background — with no photo editing required on your part. Before you pay anything, you receive a free watermarked preview to confirm the result yourself. If the photo is subsequently rejected by the authority, it is redone at no cost or refunded in full. You pay only for the final, print-ready file.
How we make your Work permit photo meet the official standard — Qatar, 35 × 45 mm
Every photo is prepared against the official requirements for your document — not a generic template. Here is what that means in practice:
- 1We crop and size your photo to the exact millimetre and pixel dimensions the authority requires.
- 2We check the background, head position, gaze and lighting, and flag glasses or head coverings that are not allowed.
- 3We match the rules to the specific document and country, against the exact format requirements.
- 4If anything does not meet the standard, you get a free re-do or your money back.

A digital photo is normal, and it gets accepted — Qatar, 35 × 45 mm
You do not need a trip to a studio. Authorities accept any Work permit photo that meets the official requirements — what matters is the standard, not where the photo was made. We match that standard exactly.
The standard is what counts
Officials check your photo against the rules — size, background, head position and lighting — not where you took it.
Part of official processes
Many passport, visa and ID services let you upload a digital photo or submit a print — both are fine when they meet the spec.
Same result as a studio
We prepare your file to the exact official measurements, so it is accepted just like a professional studio photo.
And you are covered
If a photo is ever rejected for not meeting the requirements, we redo it for free or refund you.
