• Non-white or uneven background: Shadows cast on the wall behind you, a patterned surface, or anything other than a clean white backdrop will prompt the operator to retake the shot.
• Wearing glasses: Even clear prescription lenses are explicitly prohibited under PhilSys photo rules. Applicants are asked to remove all eyewear before the shutter is pressed.
• Non-neutral expression: A faint smile, slightly raised brows, or a barely open mouth are frequent reasons for recapture. A calm, closed-mouth expression is required.
• Non-religious headwear: Baseball caps, beanies, headbands, and fashion scarves are not accepted. Only headwear worn consistently for religious reasons is permitted, and it must not cover any part of the face.
