Common reasons photos are rejected in Zambia:
- Background that is off-white, cream, grey, or light blue — the NRC standard requires pure white (#FFFFFF) only; even a slight tint causes rejection
- Any eyewear in the photo — prescription glasses, sunglasses, and tinted lenses are all prohibited without exception
- Visible shadows on the face or background caused by harsh overhead lighting or a flash positioned too close
- Headwear worn for non-religious reasons, or religious headwear that partially obscures the face or hairline
