Your National ID card photo: what matters
A Lithuanian national ID card (asmens tapatybės kortelė) photo must follow the same unified biometric standard as the Lithuanian passport, set by Order No. 569 of the Ministry of the Interior. The Personal Documents Issuance Centre (ADIC) applies this standard strictly, so the photo you submit must match the official geometry exactly — get it right once and your application moves forward without a return trip.
The Lithuanian peculiarity is the cropping: you supply a 40x60 mm image at 300 DPI, but ADIC machine-crops it down to the printed 35x45 mm field on the card. That means the head and margins inside your 40x60 mm photo must already sit correctly: head height roughly 33-36 mm and a top margin of about 13 mm above the crown. If the head is too large, too small, or off-centre, the automatic crop clips the chin or forehead and the photo is refused. The background must be plain white or very light grey — no shadows, no colour cast.

- Grey or off-white background with visible shadow behind the head
