Your National ID card photo: what matters
A photo prepared for Grenada's national identification card must conform to the 51×51 mm (602×602 px) standard derived from the national 2×2-inch passport norm, applied by the Parliamentary Elections Office (PEO) — the authority responsible for issuing national identification and administering voter registration. Meeting every technical requirement precisely means your reference image is clean, correctly proportioned, and immediately usable whenever an official-format photograph is required.
Grenada does not issue a conventional standalone biometric national ID card in the way many countries do. National identity is established through the passport and the voter registration card administered by the Parliamentary Elections Office. A key feature of the PEO process is that the photograph is captured digitally on-site by office staff at the point of enrolment — applicants do not bring or submit a physical photo themselves. - Recency: photo must reflect your current appearance, taken within the last six months
- Technical quality: sharp focus, even lighting, no red-eye, no heavy shadows falling across the face or background
Common reasons photos are rejected in Grenada:
- Off-white or coloured background: cream, grey, or light-blue tones are not acceptable — the background must be pure, unambiguous white
- Glasses of any kind: spectacles including clear, anti-reflective, or lightly tinted frames are not permitted
- Face proportion outside the 49–69% range: a head that is too small or crops too close to the top of the frame will cause the image to be rejected
- Non-religious or obscuring headwear: hats, caps, and fashion accessories are not accepted; even religious head coverings must leave the entire face from hairline to chin clearly visible
