A Bahrain National ID card photo has to meet the precise biometric standard published by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) on the official bahrain.bh eGovernment portal. Get the framing, background and dimensions right and your CPR Smart ID card (eKey) application is accepted on first submission, with no trip back to the counter to reshoot.
The detail that trips most applicants up is that Bahrain works to two different sizes at once. The printed photo is 40x60 mm, but the digital file uploaded through the CPR / eKey system must be 240x320 pixels at 300 DPI on a clean white background, no larger than 2 MB. The frame must show your whole head plus the top of your shoulders, with the face occupying 70-80% of the height, and the photo must be recent — taken within the last 6 months. Bahrain also explicitly permits religious headwear (such as a hijab or ghutra) as long as the full face, from chin to forehead, stays clearly visible.
