A Nigeria passport photo has to satisfy the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) e-passport standard before your enrolment is accepted. The specification is precise: a 35x45 mm portrait (827x1063 px) on a pure white background, with your face filling roughly 69-80% of the frame height. Getting these proportions right the first time is the difference between a smooth enrolment and a wasted trip to the passport office.
The detail most Nigerian applicants miss is the background. The NIS biometric and online-portal standard demands a plain white (#FFFFFF) background — off-white, cream, blue and grey backdrops are routinely rejected. Equally important is the head measurement: your head should be about 34.5 mm from chin to crown (acceptable range 31-36 mm) with roughly a 3 mm margin above the hair. For adult passports, the NIS process also requires two printed photographs, one of which carries a guarantor endorsement on the back — so your image must be sharp enough to print cleanly twice.
