• Face coverage: head must fill 70–80% of the frame height; head height chin-to-crown is approximately 34.5 mm, with a 3 mm top margin above the crown
• Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and looking directly at the camera
• Glasses: not permitted under any circumstances
• Headwear: forbidden (religious coverings are accepted only when worn daily for documented religious reasons, at the officer's discretion)
• Recency: the reference image should reflect your current appearance — taken within the last six months

• Common reasons photos are rejected at Uzbekistan OVIR appointments:
• Off-white or cream background: the standard explicitly requires pure white (#FFFFFF); ivory or light-grey tones are rejected
• Glasses on the face: unlike some neighbouring countries, Uzbekistan biometric standards allow no exceptions for prescription glasses — they must be removed
• Incorrect head height: the chin-to-crown measurement must sit within the 34.5 mm target; photos where the face is too small or the subject is too far from the camera are returned
• Visible teeth or a smile: any expression other than fully neutral — including a slight smile — does not meet biometric facial-recognition requirements
