Your Passport photo: what matters
A Ghana passport photo must follow the precise specification set by Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (MFA) and applied at every Passport Application Centre. The standard is a 35x45 mm portrait on a plain white background with a neutral expression — and getting these measurements exactly right is what separates an accepted application from a rejected one. The goal here is simple: a photo that meets the official rules on the first submission.
Ghana's requirements are unusually specific about geometry and handling. The MFA (confirmed via the Oslo embassy guidance) states the head height must be 34.5 mm with a 3 mm margin above the head, leaving very little tolerance. For printed applications you supply four recent identical photos: one must be endorsed and signed by your guarantor on the reverse, and your right thumbprint is affixed beside the photo on the form. Biometric data is also captured in person at the centre, but the photographs you bring or upload must already be correct — they are not retaken for you.
