Zimbabwe has several requirements that surprise applicants and cause silent rejections. The head height must measure roughly 34.5 mm — filling about 70-82% of the frame — and both ears must be clearly visible, which is why hair must be tied back rather than left loose across the face. The Passport Office also expects a dark-coloured top so your shoulders separate cleanly from the white background, and asks that jewellery be removed. For the online application the digital image must be a JPG no larger than 240KB at around 600 DPI — a tighter file limit than many countries, so an oversized or low-resolution scan is a common point of failure.
