A Tunisian passport application succeeds or fails on the photo, so getting it right the first time matters. Since 2003 Tunisia issues biometric, ICAO-compliant passports, and the official consular service (econsulat.tn) requires two printed colour photographs measuring exactly 35x45 mm (4.5x3.5 cm) on a plain white background. The detail most applicants miss is how strict the ICAO biometric framing is. Tunisian authorities expect the head to measure roughly 33 mm from chin to crown, with about a 4 mm margin above the head, so the face fills 70-80% of the frame height. For digital submissions the file must be a JPEG under 240 KB at 300 DPI. These are machine-read measurements, not suggestions, and a photo that is even slightly off-frame is the single most common reason an otherwise good picture is refused at the consulate.
