A Peru passport photo must follow the national biometric standard enforced by Migraciones (Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones) and the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (MRE) for consulates abroad. The specification is a 35x45 mm color photo on a pure white background with a neutral face that fills most of the frame. Peru has one important peculiarity. At Migraciones offices inside Peru, the photo is captured live on-site with their own camera, so you do not bring printed photos there. But at Peruvian consulates abroad, applicants are typically asked to supply three printed 35x45 mm photos on a white background for the biometric passport. That is exactly where a self-supplied photo matters: if you renew from outside Peru, you prepare the photos yourself. - Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open, looking straight ahead.
- Glasses: not allowed.
- Headwear: none, except permanent religious head covering that does not hide the face.
- Recency: taken within the last 6 months and resembling your current appearance.
Common reasons photos are rejected in Peru:
- Off-white, cream or grey backgrounds, or visible wall shadows behind the head.
