A Kazakhstan passport photo must follow the unified national standard for identity documents published through egov.kz, the official e-government portal of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The same biometric rules apply across the passport, ID card and other state documents, so the photo has to be precise: correct size, correct head proportions, and a clean, regulation background. The most overlooked detail in Kazakhstan is the background colour. The standard recommends a light, single-colour background in grey (#D8D8D8) and specifically advises against blue — a colour that is accepted in many other countries but discouraged here. Equally strict is the head measurement: from chin to crown your head must occupy 32-36 mm, which works out to 70-80% of the 45 mm frame height. Too small or too large a head is one of the most common silent rejections, because applicants rarely measure it themselves.
