• Glasses: strictly not permitted — this includes prescription frames of any kind
• Headwear: permitted only for verified religious observance; the full face must remain completely unobscured
• Recency: must reflect your current appearance (taken within the past 6 months)
• Retouching: heavy filters, digital alteration of features or airbrushing are not accepted

Common reasons photos are rejected in Uganda:

• Glasses visible in the image — even thin prescription frames are explicitly prohibited under the URA biometric standard
• Background that is not a clean, uniform white — coloured walls, uneven studio lighting or cast shadows are a frequent cause of failure at the capture centre
• Face coverage outside the 60–72% range — either the subject stood too far from the camera (face appears undersized) or too close (top of the head is cropped)
• Headwear worn without a verified religious justification — caps, hats and fashion scarves are not accepted under any circumstances
