A better photo is needed
- Good even lighting, no shadows
- Face straight, neutral expression, mouth closed
- Plain light background
- Camera at eye level, not too close
A document photo is a headache of its own
A Uganda Visa photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.
It gets rejected
Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.
Expensive and slow
A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.
Confusing requirements
Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.
Redo it all over
Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.

Your Visa photo: what matters
The Uganda e-Visa, processed through the official Immigration portal at visas.immigration.go.ug, requires a digital passport-style photograph that meets strict technical standards. Submitting a compliant photo from the start is the single most reliable way to avoid delays or an outright rejection of your application.
Uganda's requirement is notably different from most European and Asian travel documents: the photo must be square — 2×2 inches (51×51 mm) for a printed submission, or a minimum 500×500 px (with 602×602 px as the precise digital standard) for upload to the e-Visa portal. A standard rectangular 35×45 mm passport photo will not pass. The background must be plain white (#FFFFFF) — no shadows, no gradients, no off-white tones. Even a cream or warm-white background, common when shooting indoors without a dedicated backdrop, is a documented cause of rejection on the Uganda immigration portal. Shadows falling from the subject's clothing or head onto the background are treated the same way.
- Photo size: 51×51 mm (2×2 inches) for print; 602×602 px for digital upload to the e-Visa portal (minimum 500×500 px accepted)
- Background: plain white (#FFFFFF) only — no shadows, gradients, or patterns
- Face coverage: your face must fill 60–72% of the total frame height
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes fully open, looking directly at the camera
- Glasses: not permitted under any circumstances
- Headwear: allowed only for documented religious reasons; must not cover or obscure any part of the face
- Recency: taken within the last 6 months
- Pose: full front-facing view, no head tilting or turning
- Off-white or grey background — the Uganda immigration portal checks for pure white; ivory, cream, or light grey shades are flagged and rejected
- Wrong photo shape — submitting a rectangular 35×45 mm photo instead of the required square format is a leading cause of technical rejection
- Shadows on the face or background — caused by poor home lighting or shooting too close to a wall; a flat, evenly lit background is essential
- Face outside the 60–72% coverage range — a photo where the face appears too small (casual snapshot) or too close (cropped portrait) will fail the automated check
Upload your photo and it is automatically cropped, resized, and colour-corrected to the exact Uganda e-Visa standard — no guesswork, no manual editing. You receive a free watermarked preview before any payment: inspect it, confirm it meets the standard, and pay only for the final download. If your Uganda e-Visa application rejects the photo for any technical reason, we redo it at no charge or issue a full refund. The outcome is a photo built to pass — not a photo you hope will pass.
How we make your Visa photo meet the official standard — Uganda, 51 × 51 mm
Every photo is prepared against the official requirements for your document — not a generic template. Here is what that means in practice:
- 1We crop and size your photo to the exact millimetre and pixel dimensions the authority requires.
- 2We check the background, head position, gaze and lighting, and flag glasses or head coverings that are not allowed.
- 3We match the rules to the specific document and country, citing the official source of those requirements.
- 4If anything does not meet the standard, you get a free re-do or your money back.

A digital photo is normal, and it gets accepted — Uganda, 51 × 51 mm
You do not need a trip to a studio. Authorities accept any Visa photo that meets the official requirements — what matters is the standard, not where the photo was made. We match that standard exactly.
The standard is what counts
Officials check your photo against the rules — size, background, head position and lighting — not where you took it.
Part of official processes
Many passport, visa and ID services let you upload a digital photo or submit a print — both are fine when they meet the spec.
Same result as a studio
We prepare your file to the exact official measurements, so it is accepted just like a professional studio photo.
And you are covered
If a photo is ever rejected for not meeting the requirements, we redo it for free or refund you.
