A document photo is a headache of its own
A Thailand Visa photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.
It gets rejected
Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.
Expensive and slow
A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.
Confusing requirements
Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.
Redo it all over
Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.

Your Visa photo: what matters
A Thailand visa photo that meets every official requirement is the single fastest way to avoid delays at the embassy, VFS Global office, or e-Visa portal. The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and VFS Global specify a 35x45 mm (413x531 px) colour photograph taken within the last six months, with the face occupying approximately 70–80% of the frame height against a pure, solid white background. Submitting a photo that deviates from any one of these points — even slightly — is the most common reason visa applications are returned for correction.
Critical size exception: Visa-on-Arrival (VOA / eVOA). If you plan to obtain a Thai Visa on Arrival at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, or another port of entry, the photo requirement changes entirely. VOA counters require a larger 40x60 mm (4x6 cm) photograph — a specification many travellers overlook because every other Thai visa category uses the standard 35x45 mm format. Carry both sizes if you are unsure which route you will use. For the Thailand e-Visa, a digital JPEG upload is accepted alongside the standard size; the background must still be solid white, not off-white, cream, or light grey.
- Size: 35x45 mm (413x531 px) — standard visa, embassy, VFS, e-Visa; 40x60 mm for Visa-on-Arrival counters
- Background: Plain solid white (#FFFFFF) only — off-white, ivory, and light grey are rejected
- Face coverage: Head fills 70–80% of the frame height
- Expression: Neutral, mouth closed, no teeth visible
- Glasses: Not permitted in any Thai visa photo
- Headwear: Not allowed, except for religious head coverings worn daily
- Recency: Taken within the last 6 months; do not submit an old photo even if it looks recent
- Print quality: Sharp focus, even lighting, no shadows on the face or background
- Wrong background tone: Off-white, cream, or light grey backgrounds are the leading rejection cause — Thai authorities specify pure white only
- Glasses worn: Even thin-frame or rimless glasses are not accepted; remove them entirely
- Wrong photo size: Using the standard 35x45 mm photo at a VOA counter (which requires 40x60 mm) causes immediate rejection at the port of entry
- Shadows or uneven lighting: Any visible shadow on the background or face fails automated checks at VFS and the e-Visa portal
To get a ready-to-submit photo, simply upload any clear, recent picture of yourself — it is automatically cropped and sized to the exact official 35x45 mm standard, background corrected to pure white, and checked against the Thai visa requirements. You receive a free watermarked preview before paying anything, so you can confirm it looks right. If the photo is somehow rejected by the authority, it is remade free of charge or you receive a full refund — you pay only for a file you are satisfied with.
How we make your Visa photo meet the official standard — Thailand, 35 × 45 mm
Every photo is prepared against the official requirements for your document — not a generic template. Here is what that means in practice:
- 1We crop and size your photo to the exact millimetre and pixel dimensions the authority requires.
- 2We check the background, head position, gaze and lighting, and flag glasses or head coverings that are not allowed.
- 3We match the rules to the specific document and country, citing the official source of those requirements.
- 4If anything does not meet the standard, you get a free re-do or your money back.

A digital photo is normal, and it gets accepted — Thailand, 35 × 45 mm
You do not need a trip to a studio. Authorities accept any Visa photo that meets the official requirements — what matters is the standard, not where the photo was made. We match that standard exactly.
The standard is what counts
Officials check your photo against the rules — size, background, head position and lighting — not where you took it.
Part of official processes
Many passport, visa and ID services let you upload a digital photo or submit a print — both are fine when they meet the spec.
Same result as a studio
We prepare your file to the exact official measurements, so it is accepted just like a professional studio photo.
And you are covered
If a photo is ever rejected for not meeting the requirements, we redo it for free or refund you.
