Seychelles Passport Photo: Exact 35x45 mm Standard Requirements
Everything you need to know about the official Seychelles passport photo standard, including the live on-site biometric capture rule introduced in November 2022.
This photo must be taken by an accredited service
For this document, Seychelles does not accept a self-prepared photo. By law it must be captured on site by an authorised service and submitted electronically, so we cannot produce a submittable file for it. The official specification is shown below so you know exactly what to expect at your appointment.
This photo is captured on site — but we can make your Seychelles photos online:
A document photo is a headache of its own
A Seychelles Passport photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.
It gets rejected
Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.
Expensive and slow
A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.
Confusing requirements
Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.
Redo it all over
Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.
«Below are the exact requirements from the official source, so you arrive at your appointment prepared.»
Ordinary photo → ready for submission
We remove the background and clutter, set the framing and lighting — keeping your face without «beautifying».
Your face stays yours — we do not change features, only the background, lighting and framing.
Your Passport photo: what matters
Getting a correct Seychelles passport photo starts with understanding the standard set by the Immigration and Civil Status Division (ICS, immigration.gov.sc). The Republic of Seychelles uses an ICAO-aligned biometric passport, and its photo specification is precise: a 35x45 mm portrait (827x1063 px) on a plain white background, with the face filling 70-80% of the frame height and a neutral, closed-mouth expression.
There is one crucial peculiarity that sets Seychelles apart from most countries. Since the November 2022 biometric passport rollout, the ICS captures your photograph live, on-site at the Passport Office enrolment station together with your fingerprints and a digital signature. For domestic applications a self-made or downloaded photo is generally not accepted for final submission - the officer takes the image directly at the counter to guarantee it meets biometric quality and security standards. This single change makes the appointment, not the photo upload, the centre of the process.
The governing specification you should still match looks like this:
- Size: 35x45 mm (827x1063 px)
- Background: plain, pure white (#FFFFFF), evenly lit, no shadows
- Face size: head fills roughly 70-80% of the frame height
- Expression: neutral, eyes open, mouth closed
- Glasses: not allowed (medical exception only, with eyes clearly visible)
- Headwear: none, except worn daily for religious reasons
- Recency: taken within the last 6 months and a true likeness
- Common reasons photos are rejected in Seychelles:
- Submitting a self-made photo when an in-person enrolment capture is required for the biometric passport
- Wearing glasses or tinted lenses that obscure or reflect over the eyes
- A background that is off-white, grey, or shadowed instead of pure even white
- Smiling or an open mouth, or the head being too small or too large within the 70-80% range
Our tool automatically crops and formats your own picture to the exact 35x45 mm Seychelles standard, so you can see precisely how a compliant photo must look. Be aware: because the ICS now captures the official image on-site during your appointment, this prepared photo is a reference and preparation aid rather than a final submission file for a domestic passport application. Use it to check your framing, background and expression before you visit the Passport Office, or for related purposes where a standard-format portrait is needed.
