The goal is simple: a clean, correctly measured portrait that passes the counter check at any Passport Office or NADRA-linked centre without being sent back. What makes Pakistan unusual is how precisely the head height is defined. DGIP expects the head to measure roughly 34mm from chin to crown inside the 45mm-tall frame, with the face filling about 70-80% of the image. The background must be plain pure white (no off-white, grey, blue or patterned walls), and prints are expected at 600 DPI for sharpness. If you use the online MRP portal, the digital file has its own rules: a minimum of 350x467 pixels, automated on-screen validation, and a tight file size near 20KB — which is why an ordinary phone photo often fails the upload until it is properly resized.
