Azerbaijan Driving Licence Photo: The Exact 3x4 cm Standard Explained
Learn precisely how a compliant Azerbaijani driving licence photo must look — the 30x40 mm white-background standard used by the road police and ASAN centres — and why the picture is captured on-site.
This photo must be taken by an accredited service
For this document, Azerbaijan does not accept a self-prepared photo. By law it must be captured on site by an authorised service and submitted electronically, so we cannot produce a submittable file for it. The official specification is shown below so you know exactly what to expect at your appointment.
This photo is captured on site — but we can make your Azerbaijan photos online:
A document photo is a headache of its own
A Azerbaijan Driving licence photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.
It gets rejected
Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.
Expensive and slow
A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.
Confusing requirements
Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.
Redo it all over
Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.
«Below are the exact requirements from the official source, so you arrive at your appointment prepared.»

We remove the background and clutter, set the framing and lighting — keeping your face without «beautifying».
Your face stays yours — we do not change features, only the background, lighting and framing.
Your Driving licence photo: what matters
Getting your Azerbaijan driving licence (sürücülük vəsiqəsi) photo right means understanding one important detail before you ever reach the counter: the image follows the national 3x4 cm (30x40 mm) white-background standard applied by the State Road Police (DYP) and the ASAN xidmət service centres that issue the document.
Here is the country-specific peculiarity that surprises most applicants: Azerbaijan does not accept a self-made or downloaded photo for the driving licence. There is no separately published online photo specification — the requirement is inferred from the national 3x4 standard — and the actual picture is captured digitally on-site at the road police or ASAN centre during your appointment. This biometric on-site capture is mandatory, so a print you bring from home generally will not be used for the final licence.
The official reference image still follows these exact parameters:
- Size: 30x40 mm (354x472 px at print resolution)
- Background: plain white (#FFFFFF), evenly lit, no shadows
- Face height: the face fills 70-82% of the frame height
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and looking at the camera
- Glasses: allowed only if the eyes are fully visible, with no glare or tinted lenses
- Headwear: none, except religious head covering that does not hide the face
- Recency: the likeness must reflect your current appearance (taken within the last 6 months)
Common reasons photos are rejected in Azerbaijan:
- Bringing a self-printed photo when the centre requires its own on-site digital capture
- A grey, cream or textured backdrop instead of pure white — the 3x4 standard demands a clean white field
- Glasses causing reflections or tinted lenses that obscure the eyes
- A smiling or open-mouth expression, or the head tilted rather than squared to the camera
Because the licence photo is taken at the office, the most useful thing you can do beforehand is to know exactly what a compliant image looks like. Our tool turns your own picture into a perfectly standard-compliant 30x40 mm reference: white background, correct face proportions and neutral framing. Use it to check your appearance before the appointment, prepare a flawless reference, or for other documents that do accept supplied photos. We are honest about the limits — for the Azerbaijani driving licence itself, the official photo must be captured on-site, so treat the result as your preparation guide rather than a submission file.
