Your Driving licence photo: what matters
If you are renewing or applying for a licencia de conducir in the Dominican Republic, knowing exactly what a compliant portrait looks like helps you arrive prepared and confident. The single most important fact about this document is unusual: your photo is taken live, on-site, at the licensing centre. During your appointment you also complete a vision test and provide your digital signature, and a staff member captures your portrait directly into the INTRANT system. Because this on-site digital capture is mandatory, a downloaded or self-made photo is generally not accepted for submission. There is no separate public numeric photo specification published by the authority — the dimensions are the standard ID-1 portrait used across Dominican licence and cédula documents.
A fully compliant reference image follows these specifications:

- Background: plain white (#FFFFFF), even and shadow-free
- Face size: head fills 70–80% of the frame height
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and looking at the camera
- Glasses: allowed only if the eyes are fully visible — no glare, no tint
- Headwear: not permitted (no hats, caps or hoods)
- Recency: the image should reflect your current appearance (taken within the last 6 months)
