For a visa sticker placed in your passport, the printed photo measures 35x45 mm on a plain white background — identical to the Armenian passport specification — so the same image rules apply across both documents.
The key peculiarity is the digital route. If you apply through the official Armenian e-Visa portal at evisa.mfa.am, the system does not accept the printed 35x45 mm format. Instead it requires a square digital photo of 600x600 px, saved as a JPG on a white background. A self-supplied digital photo is fully accepted for the e-Visa, so you do not need a studio appointment — but you must crop it to the square format, not the rectangular one, or the upload will fail. For visas obtained on arrival or at an embassy, the printed 35x45 mm photo remains the standard.
Exact requirements for both formats:
- Size: 35x45 mm printed (827x1063 px), or 600x600 px square JPG for the e-Visa portal.
- Background: plain white (#FFFFFF), evenly lit, no shadows.
- Face size: the head fills 70-80% of the frame height.
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, both eyes open, looking straight at the camera.
- Glasses: allowed only if the eyes are fully visible with no glare or tint.
- Headwear: not permitted, except for religious purposes that still reveal the full face.
- Recency: taken within the last 6 months and reflecting your current appearance.

- Uploading a 35x45 mm rectangular crop to the e-Visa portal, which only accepts the 600x600 px square.
