A document photo is a headache of its own

A Slovakia Student ID photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.

      It gets rejected

Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.

      Expensive and slow

A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.

      Confusing requirements

Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.

      Redo it all over

Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.

      In detail

Your Student ID photo: what matters

A correctly sized and formatted photo is the first thing an admissions office or ISIC issuing point checks. For student cards in Slovakia — whether a school-issued photo ID or an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) — the conventionally accepted format is 30×35 mm (354×413 px) with a plain white background. Upload your own photo and it is automatically cropped, resized, and colour-corrected to match that exact standard, giving you a file ready to print or submit digitally on the first attempt.

Unlike passport or national ID photos, Slovakia has no unified biometric standard for student cards. Each university, secondary school, or ISIC-issuing institution sets its own rules. In practice, virtually all Slovak institutions converge on the classic European document-photo proportions of 3×3.5 cm — the same format used for many national IDs across Central Europe — and they explicitly accept self-supplied printed photographs. This means there is no central government authority to appeal to if a photo is rejected; compliance with the individual institution's checklist is everything. Knowing the de-facto standard in detail, and meeting every point on it, is the only reliable way to avoid a second trip to the photographer.

      • Size: 30×35 mm (354×413 px at 300 dpi)
      • Background: solid white (#FFFFFF) — no patterns, gradients, or shadows
      • Face coverage: face height must occupy 65–80% of the total frame height
      • Expression: neutral, mouth closed, both eyes open and clearly visible
      • Glasses: permitted only if eyes are fully visible with no glare, reflections, or tinted lenses
      • Headwear: not allowed except for verified religious reasons
      • Recency: photo must have been taken within the last 6 months and reflect your current appearance
      • Print quality: sharp focus, even lighting, no pixelation — institutions commonly reject low-resolution prints
      • Wrong proportions: submitting a square 35×35 mm passport-style crop instead of the 30×35 mm rectangular format is the single most common rejection cause at Slovak student offices.
      • Non-white or busy background: light grey or cream backgrounds that look white on screen often fail when printed under office lighting — only a true #FFFFFF background is safe.
      • Glasses with visible glare: overhead fluorescent lighting in home photos almost always creates a hotspot on lenses; institutions routinely reject these even when eyes appear visible.
      • Outdated photo: photos older than six months, or taken with a significantly different hairstyle or hair colour, are flagged by staff as not representing current appearance.

To get your photo: upload any clear, well-lit picture taken in front of a plain surface. It is automatically prepared to the 30×35 mm standard — correct dimensions, white background, and proper face framing — so you can see a free watermarked preview before making any payment. You only pay to download the final print-ready file. If the institution still rejects the photo, we will redo it free of charge or issue a full refund — no questions asked.

      How we get it right

How we make your Student ID photo meet the official standard — Slovakia, 30 × 35 mm

Every photo is prepared against the official requirements for your document — not a generic template. Here is what that means in practice:

      • 1We crop and size your photo to the exact millimetre and pixel dimensions the authority requires.
      • 2We check the background, head position, gaze and lighting, and flag glasses or head coverings that are not allowed.
      • 3We match the rules to the specific document and country, against the exact format requirements.
      • 4If anything does not meet the standard, you get a free re-do or your money back.

      No more doubts

A digital photo is normal, and it gets accepted — Slovakia, 30 × 35 mm

You do not need a trip to a studio. Authorities accept any Student ID photo that meets the official requirements — what matters is the standard, not where the photo was made. We match that standard exactly.

      The standard is what counts

Officials check your photo against the rules — size, background, head position and lighting — not where you took it.

      Part of official processes

Many passport, visa and ID services let you upload a digital photo or submit a print — both are fine when they meet the spec.

      Same result as a studio

We prepare your file to the exact official measurements, so it is accepted just like a professional studio photo.

      And you are covered

If a photo is ever rejected for not meeting the requirements, we redo it for free or refund you.

Common questions about Slovakia Student ID photos

What is the correct photo size for a Slovak student ID?
The standard accepted by Slovak schools, universities, and ISIC-issuing offices is 30×35 mm (354×413 px at 300 dpi). This is a rectangular, portrait-orientation format — not the square 35×35 mm used for some other documents.
Is there an official Slovak government standard for student ID photos?
No. Slovakia has no national biometric regulation covering student cards. Each institution — secondary school, university, or ISIC point — sets its own requirements. In practice, all of them converge on the 30×35 mm European document-photo format with a white background.
Can I supply my own printed photo instead of going to a photo studio?
Yes. Slovak institutions explicitly accept self-supplied photographs. The photo must still meet the size, background, and portrait requirements set by your institution, but you are free to produce and print it yourself.
Are glasses allowed in a Slovak student ID photo?
Glasses are permitted as long as both eyes are fully visible, there is no glare or reflection on the lenses, and the lenses are not tinted or coloured. In practice, overhead lighting in home photos often creates glare — checking the preview carefully before printing is strongly advised.
When do I pay, and what if the photo is rejected?
You see a free watermarked preview of your prepared photo before any payment is required. You pay only when you are satisfied with the result. If the institution rejects the photo despite it meeting the standard, we will redo it at no charge or refund you in full.
Does the photo need to be recent?
Yes. As with most official documents, Slovak student offices expect the photo to have been taken within the past six months and to accurately reflect your current appearance — including hair colour and style.
