Looking for a passport photo at Walmart? Here is what the store does, which sizes it prints and what to bring — plus how to arrive with a file that will not be turned down.

Walmart Photo is a convenient way to get printed document photos in the US. But a print service doesn't fit your photo to the official standard — that has to be done first. The flow is simple: we prepare the compliant digital file (exact size, background and head proportions), and Walmart Photo prints it at a self-service kiosk in store, by ordering online and uploading your file, with in-store pickup or with mail delivery.

Good to know: you upload your photo online and pick up the print at a local store, often in about an hour.

That way you get both compliance (our part) and a familiar local service close to home (Walmart Photo). The file is universal — good for online submission and for self-printing.

A few practical notes. A document photo is small (usually 35 × 45 mm, or 2 × 2 inches in the US), so several copies fit on a single 4×6 / 10×15 cm print — handy and economical. Bring the ready file whichever way suits you: via the link in our email, straight from your phone, or on a USB stick. When ordering, confirm the print size so the photos aren't cropped.

What Walmart charges and what you get

• Price: $7.64 — the cheapest of the big US chains at the time of checking.
• Who takes the photo: a Photo Centre associate, who checks size, lighting and background before printing. No appointment needed, at participating Supercentres.
• How long it takes: one-hour photo service in store.
• Format: 2×2 inches, with head height 1.29 in and eye line 1.18 in from the bottom — the US State Department geometry. A USB copy for online renewals is offered as an extra.
