A document photo is a headache of its own
A Papua New Guinea Visa photo has strict requirements, and a mistake costs time and money. We’ll show you how to pass on the first try.
It gets rejected
Wrong size, background or cropping — and the system returns the application.
Expensive and slow
A trip to a photo studio means a queue, time and €7–12 for a reshoot.
Confusing requirements
Exact size, head height, light background, facial expression — easy to get wrong.
Redo it all over
Rejected — take another photo, pay and submit again. Round and round.

Your Visa photo: what matters
When you apply for a Papua New Guinea visa, your photo must meet the same official standard that governs PNG passports — the Immigration & Citizenship Authority (ICA) passport-size photo specification. Getting this right the first time avoids delays, returned applications, and the cost of a new set of prints. Our service automatically prepares your photo to the precise ICA standard so it is ready to submit the moment you download it.
One important aspect that surprises many applicants: Papua New Guinea visas are issued by the same authority as passports — the Immigration & Citizenship Authority (ICA). This means the photo standard is unified across both documents. Several visa categories — including the Business Visa and the Tourist ETA — explicitly require a recent passport-size photo to accompany the application form. Because PNG does not operate a separate visa-photo specification, any deviation from the national passport-photo standard is treated as non-compliant by the reviewing officer, regardless of which visa category you are applying for.
- Size: 35 x 45 mm (digital equivalent: 827 x 1063 px at 600 dpi)
- Background: plain light colour — hex #ECECEC or any equivalent off-white / light grey; dark, patterned, or coloured backgrounds are not accepted
- Face coverage: your face must fill 70–80% of the total frame height
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed, both eyes open and clearly visible
- Glasses: not permitted under any circumstances, including prescription glasses
- Head coverings: only permitted for verified religious reasons; must not obscure the face or hairline
- Recency: the photo must have been taken within the last six months and accurately represent your current appearance
- Print quality: if submitting in print, use high-quality matte or semi-gloss photo paper with no pixelation, shadows, or red-eye
- Common reasons PNG visa photos are rejected:
- Wrong background tone: a cream, ivory, or slightly warm-tinted background — even one that appears white to the eye — often fails the ICA light-grey standard; use a neutral, cool-toned off-white
- Face too small or too large: because the 70–80% face-height rule is strictly enforced, photos cropped from full-body or group shots that leave too much headroom, or selfies taken very close that cut off the chin, are routinely returned
- Glasses present: PNG follows a zero-tolerance policy on glasses — even thin, frameless lenses create glare and are flagged; remove them entirely
- Photo older than six months: the ICA requires the image to reflect your current appearance; a photo taken before a significant change in appearance (hair colour, facial hair, weight change) will be challenged even if technically within the date window
To get your photo right without a visit to a photo studio, upload any clear, front-facing picture taken against a light background. Your photo is automatically cropped, scaled, and colour-corrected to the exact 35 x 45 mm ICA specification. Before you pay anything, you receive a free watermarked preview to check the result. If you are satisfied, download the print-ready file. If your photo is ever rejected by the immigration office, we will redo it free of charge or issue a full refund — you only pay when the result genuinely meets the standard.
How we make your Visa photo meet the official standard — Papua New Guinea, 35 × 45 mm
Every photo is prepared against the official requirements for your document — not a generic template. Here is what that means in practice:
- 1We crop and size your photo to the exact millimetre and pixel dimensions the authority requires.
- 2We check the background, head position, gaze and lighting, and flag glasses or head coverings that are not allowed.
- 3We match the rules to the specific document and country, citing the official source of those requirements.
- 4If anything does not meet the standard, you get a free re-do or your money back.

A digital photo is normal, and it gets accepted — Papua New Guinea, 35 × 45 mm
You do not need a trip to a studio. Authorities accept any Visa photo that meets the official requirements — what matters is the standard, not where the photo was made. We match that standard exactly.
The standard is what counts
Officials check your photo against the rules — size, background, head position and lighting — not where you took it.
Part of official processes
Many passport, visa and ID services let you upload a digital photo or submit a print — both are fine when they meet the spec.
Same result as a studio
We prepare your file to the exact official measurements, so it is accepted just like a professional studio photo.
And you are covered
If a photo is ever rejected for not meeting the requirements, we redo it for free or refund you.
